For the 17th year in succession the Berlin Master Chef jury has honoured the best chefs in the Berlin-Brandenburg region: Berliner Master Chef, Brandenburg Master Chef, Shooting Star of the Year, Berlin Host, Berlin Trend Restaurant and Berlin Gastronomic Innovator. Each year the jury selects one award winner in each category.
This year, „first floor“ Michelin star chef Matthias Diether has received the award as "Berlin Master Chef 2013". "This award means a great deal to me. Coming from Berlin myself, I am especially proud of this title and feel very honoured to represent this culinary capital on a national and international level. Both I and my fantastic team, to whom I owe such a lot, are delighted with this accolade that confirms we are moving in the right direction. I am especially grateful to the management at the Hotel Palace Berlin, in particular General Manager Michael Frenzel, who day after day gives me unlimited freedom to pursue my ideas and explore my creativity", said award winner Matthias Diether.
With exquisite food and exceptional talent, „first floor“ Chef de Cuisine Matthias Diether creates a dining experience to remember. Since April 2010, guests at the „first floor“ have been able to enjoy his modern European cooking with a twist of haute cuisine. His award-winning creations speak for themselves: Pigeon – Beetroot – Caramelized Nuts; Skate – Spinach – Parmesan; Coffee – Baileys – Cherries.
Within just a short space of time Matthias Diether has made a name for himself in Berlin's gourmet scene and has earned the „first floor“ restaurant a coveted Michelin star, 17 Gault Millau points, 3.5 Feinschmecker F's and the title "Best German Restaurant 2012".
The „first floor“ restaurant is one of Berlin's culinary highlights. Guests at the restaurant in the Hotel Palace Berlin are treated to fine dining at its best in modern yet elegant surroundings. The attentive and impeccable service creates a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Chef de Cuisine Matthias Diether likes to interact with guests, recommending a particular dish or sharing a few personal words.
The Berlin Master Chefs campaign promotes Germany's capital region as a top location for "upscale dining", "hospitality" and "savoir-vivre". As representatives of local gastronomy, the Berlin Master Chefs embody the capital’s extraordinary creative potential, which makes Berlin so attractive to local residents and visitors alike.
The awards will be presented to the Berlin Master Chefs during a Gala Dinner at the InterContinental Berlin on
9 November 2013.
